Educator, analyst, economist and investor who began as Benjamin Graham's student and then colleague at Columbia Business School. Died in 1988.
Security Analysis established the discipline itself: how to read financial statements for what a security is actually worth, how to separate investment from speculation, and how a margin of safety absorbs analytical error. The Columbia teaching behind it produced the method every later value investor works from.
