Robert M. Sapolsky · 2017
Biology of human behaviour across timescales, from neurons to culture
“…books I've recommended, highlighted to death, or forced on friends.”Andrew Wilkinson
Matt Ridley · 1993
“I really highly, highly recommend picking up Genome, The Red Queen, Origins of Virtue, The Rational Optimist, and The Evolution of Everything.”Naval Ravikant
Robert Wright · 1994
Evolutionary psychology as an account of motive and reciprocity
Judith Rich Harris · 1998
Challenges the evidence that parenting shapes adult outcomes
“the one thing that I found to be really interesting, and to some degree liberating, is the work of Judith Rich Harris”Michael Mauboussin

Steven Pinker · 2011
Long-run violence data against the narrative of a worsening world
“The longer companion to Enlightenment Now. Naval has cited Pinker's evolutionary and historical account of declining violence as evidence that our intuitions about the world are systematically wrong in ways that have real consequences for how we act.”Naval Ravikant
Matt Ridley

Kevin Dutton · 2012
Traits of psychopathy and where they are rewarded in business
Recommended byMorgan Housel
Robert Plomin · 2018
Behavioural genetics on how much of an outcome is inherited
Kevin Simler, Robin Hanson · 2018
Hanson and Simler make the most provocative claim in this list: that self-deception is not a flaw but an adaptive strategy — we hide our real motives from ourselves so we can more convincingly hide them from others. If true, the entire bias-correction project has a ceiling. This book belongs at the end so it reframes everything before it.
“Cowen has called this one of the most important social science books of the past decade. Simler and Hanson's thesis — that most human behavior is driven by hidden status motives we systematically misrepresent to ourselves — maps onto questions Cowen pursues across many fields: why institutions behave as they do, why signaling is so costly, what philanthropy actually accomplishes.”Tyler Cowen
