Links, not copies
Every letter, paper, article, interview and profile on Scuttlebutt is a link to the page where its owner publishes it. We record where each link was found and check that it answers before we add it. We do not host copies of those works.
Pictures
- Book covers come from Open Library, the Internet Archive’s catalogue.
- Photographs of people come from Wikimedia Commons and Wikipedia, under the licence each file carries (most are Creative Commons or public domain). Each file’s page on Commons names its author and licence.
- Company logos come from each organisation’s Wikipedia article. Logos and names are trademarks of their owners and appear only to identify them.
- Flags come from flagcdn.com.
The site serves its own copies of these pictures (stored with Supabase) so pages load quickly. Image credits lists every photograph and logo with the page it came from.
What we write
Descriptions, notes, summaries and theses are written by Scuttlebutt from the sources they name. Quotes are short passages from a named source, with a link to it.
Corrections and removals
If you own something the site links to or shows, and want it corrected, credited differently or removed, tell us with the Feedback button on the research platform. Name the page, what you own and what you want changed. We answer every request and remove material whose owner asks us to.
